WHAT IS CHURCH?
At New Street we believe it’s vitally important to gather together regularly in order that we might grow together and be a blessing to our community.
There are many different ideas about what Church should be, so we’re eager to follow the blueprint God has shared in the scriptures. The following explains why we gather together and how our beliefs shape our practice.
“In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit”
Ephesians 2:22
The Bible teaches us that we have been brought together so that we might develop together. With that in mind, we try to make our church community a place where there is grace and space to explore faith, ask questions, learn and grow.
Church isn’t meant to be a passive experience but an opportunity to come and be part of a community where we minister into one another’s lives in the power of the Holy Spirit.
“And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ”
Ephesians 2:11-12
We encourage each other to come with a heart to bless others using the gifts of the Holy Spirit, not just for ourselves, but because the Bible teaches us that everyone can be involved in helping to build others up.
We come together to worship Jesus and to inspire each other to be a blessing to our community and the world.
The songs we sing, the Scriptures we read, the talks we listen to, and the prayers we share are all part of how we continue to marvel at the amazing way Jesus has stepped into our lives and made a difference.
When you come to New Street, you are being invited to become part of a community of people who are seeking God together and learning what it means to love others the way Jesus has loved us. We’d love you to get involved.
